Interdisciplinary Rehabilitation Fellowship Program

for Armenia and Artsakh

Key Insights

COVID-19 pandemic has unleashed significant economic, societal, and health effects that have weakened the health system. The war in Artsakh in 2020 and continuing clashes have further challenged the health system and its most valuable resources: the health professions workforce. There are future risks associated with the geopolitical position and possible natural disasters. Yet health professionals, specifically enrolled in primary care, are not skilled to deliver quality rehabilitation services

Launching Interdisciplinary
Rehabilitation Fellowship Program

The need of strengthening rehab workforce capacities resulted in the launch of Interdisciplinary Rehabilitation Fellowship Program end of 2022, a 10-month hybrid (offline and online) training program to build the capacity of physicians, nurses, and allied health providers through scaling up clinical rehabilitative competencies in emergency and acute rehabilitation, neurorehabilitation, burn and wound care, orthopedics, pain science and mental health, and other critical topics. 30 fellows from Armenia and Artsakh graduated the program in July 2023.
Creating a multiplier effect through a chain reaction of impact over time
There are several key characteristics igniting a wave of positive change within the healthcare landscape:
  • Harnessing the Power of Partnerships: The program is a testament to the unparalleled strength of collaboration, uniting multiple reputable organizations in a shared mission. Through synergistic efforts and mutually reinforcing activities, this partnership fosters a collective impact far greater than the sum of its parts, laying the groundwork for systemic transformation.
  • Empowering Agents for Change: The inaugural cohort of fellows emerges not only as beneficiaries but as catalysts for profound change within their spheres of influence. Empowered by newfound knowledge and skills, these trailblazers possess the capacity to ignite transformational shifts across vast networks, leveraging their esteemed positions, sterling reputations, and expansive reach to drive meaningful change within the current ecosystem.

  • Embracing Interdisciplinary Approach: The program recognizes that true progress in healthcare necessitates breaking down silos and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. By transcending traditional boundaries and fostering a culture of collaboration among rehabilitation teams and individual practitioners, the program paves the way for a paradigm shift in health outcomes, offering renewed hope and vitality to those in need.
